So 2020 hasn’t gone as planned, but that did not stop this Brooklyn couple for having the Wedding of their dreams! With the help of the planning team at Deity NYC Wedding Venue, they pulled off the perfect day, all while following the NY State COVID safety guidelines. And nothing was sacrificed in terms of the beauty of the moment and the love felt by the bride, groom, as well as the guests. It was a much needed shining light in a time of turmoil. This is what the bride had to say about their very special Wedding in times of a pandemic:
Our wedding day was an absolute dream come true. I am also a freelance wedding planner, so I have been envisioning this day for years and years and it far exceeded all of my expectations, even amidst a pandemic! I always wanted a smaller and simpler wedding so I could really enjoy every aspect of it, and thanks to Caio it was the perfect day. Talia from Simple and Sultry made my mom, sister and I feel so pampered getting our hair and makeup done and we could really relax and soak up the time together. Massimo and Nazar from Emma Cleary Photography made sure to capture all details throughout the day and keep us on schedule without feeling rushed at all! Once we got to Deity and had the rehearsal I felt like I could really relax and take in every moment of the day. I really loved getting some quiet moments with just Drew after our ceremony and after dinner so we could slow down time and realize that our dream day was actually happening! Everyone told me that the time would fly by, and it really did! If anything, I would do it all again exactly the same because it was so perfect.
What was something that surprised you about your Wedding day? How quickly the time flies! Drew and I took some moments alone to soak in the day and it was really shocking how soon it was all over. We just kept saying “I can’t believe this is really happening” after all of the hurdles we jumped this year to make it happen.
I am so grateful for my parents who were also willing to make my wedding happen no matter what. We actually got legally married in Louisiana in August because of the difficulty of getting a marriage licence in NYC, and they drove 15 hours to Louisiana from Florida to be there with us. We had everything planned out, and then Hurricane Laura decided to hit the day before our planned ceremony. My parents didn’t bat an eye and drove to us to hunker down for the hurricane! Then when the power was out at the courthouse we had planned to get married at, they drove us an hour and a half to an open courthouse to get a license, and then we were married with just our immediate family in a justice of the peace’s backyard. Talk about a crazy wedding year!
If you had to pick one favorite memory from that day what would that be?(okay-maybe two, I know it’s hard to choose)? The ceremony- it was so intimate and wonderful. I loved reading our own vows we wrote to each other. I have never felt so in love with Drew!
Dancing with my dad. I used to portray Cinderella at Disney World so the song “Stealing Cinderella” was quite appropriate. We both knew we were going to cry alot and it would be really emotional. My dad sang the song to me as we danced and that will be a very special moment I will never forget.
Was there a particular detail that a vendor did for you that was special? Everyone was just so calm and supportive and willing to do anything and everything to make our big day happen! I am so grateful for everyone for helping make our wedding day absolutely perfect.
What was your crowd like? Our crowd was our closest family and friends which made for the most memorable day! Everyone who was there absolutely loved the food and drinks, and chose not to do group dancing due to social distancing which we actually enjoyed much better! Drew and I are not big dancers ourselves (nor are our friends) and we feel we got so much more quality time to talk to everyone and spend time with our friends and family who traveled from all over the country to be with us. We wouldn’t change a thing even if we could do it again during pre-corona times!
How did you find and decide on Deity as your Wedding Venue? We live in the neighborhood, and had walked by it several times without realizing it was a wedding venue. My mom actually found it online, and as soon as she showed it to me I knew it was my venue. I wanted to have an intimate wedding that could be as simple in planning as possible, and the fact that Deity provides everything you need made it an easy choice! We loved the unique look and feel of the building and that it just felt like “us” and didn’t need a lot of flowers as decor as it is stunning in itself. The Deity team made each step of the contracting process and planning so easy and fun, I would do it all over again if I could!
