Shira & Zach held their big day on New Year’s Eve 2019 at Deity Events Wedding Venue in Brooklyn. The stunning shots captured by Julian Ribinik really speak for themselves on this glamorous affair. This Event Planning Bride put together a day they will never forget with a special helping hand of family. And who better to describe this one-of-a-kind Wedding than the Bride herself, Shira!
Describe your wedding day – “We were married on New Year’s Eve. It was an unusually warm and rainy day but that didn’t stop all the warmth and happiness that radiated that day! I started our day getting ready with my sister, best friends, mom and mother-in-law in the stunning Deity bridal suite. Zach and I had our first look right outside the dramatic facade of Deity complete with clear umbrella’s that made it look straight out of a movie. The ceremony, reception and dancing continued on all three floors of Deity and once everyone was inside the magic and love completely took over and no one even noticed it had been pouring all day and night. We had an epic confetti cannon celebration when the clock struck midnight and every single person at the wedding was on the dance floor! DJ Ben Hamine killed it and kept the party going until 1am!”
Was there something that surprised you on your wedding day? “I know everyone says this, but truly how fast the day goes. We started getting ready at 9:30am and the party didn’t stop until 1am. It all flew by but the amazing staff at Deity kept everything flowing (including the drinks!) and everyone commented on how organized and easy it was to navigate – even with the wedding being on three separate floors.”
If you had to pick one favorite memory from that day what would that be? “My favorite memory was by far our first look. After getting ready all morning with my favorite women and stressing a little bit about the weather I was so anxious to see Zach and for him to see me. I had spent a year and a half planning every detail down to the second and the moment he turned around and we kiss every little but of stress just melted away. My second favorite memory was when I heard the cue of our processional music begin and the curtain opened and I had my parents on each arm – it was the first time I had seen everyone we loved all in one room and I could just look right at Zach and feel all of the love radiate out towards us. It was a feeling I’ll never forget.”
Whose help did you enlist the most? “Probably my sister and parents. But I’m an event planner so this was right in my wheelhouse and I took on most of the planning myself.”
What was your crowd like? “Our crowd was a party crowd for sure! We had everyone on the dance floor almost the entire night. Both Zach and I have relatively small families so the majority of our wedding was close family friends and friends throughout the years.”
Was there a particular detail that a vendor did for you that was special? “There were a few vendors that really stood out. First my mom, she has an invitation business so she made our 3D pop-up Save the dates, our entire invitation suite, wedding programs and custom cocktail napkins so that was just really special. Rosehip Social was my favorite vendor to work with. They got my vision right away and really worked with me to create the perfect chuppah and was even able to have greenery strung across the ceiling. ByPensa was also amazing. She made us a champagne sponge cake (hello NYE!) filled with strawberry cream and a rose buttercream. It was not only delicious but stunning too. She even made a small 4″ gluten free cake for my mom with the exact same flavors that my dad swears was better then the original cake. Lastly, Caio and the team at Deity. The truly made the day-of so easy and seamless. They were able to answer any question I had leading up to it and were accommodating and kind. I would 100% recommend them to any bride looking for a unique New York wedding venue.”
How did you find and decide on Deity as your Wedding Venue? “I found Deity through relentless google searching. My husband came up with the idea of doing a New Years Eve wedding because we wanted something special and not so cookie cutter. While we still had a traditional Jewish wedding we wanted it to feel unique. So it became a balancing act of budget, guest count and having New Years Eve available. The moment we walked into Deity I new it was the right venue for us. It was industrial but vintage – the exact vibe I was looking for, it had a central and easy location and transparent pricing. The staff we met there was also sweet and super confident and answered any question we might have had. And then the icing on the cake was the incredible bridal suite.”
